Hello,=20
I have to get an MCP for my current job, so I installed Win2k Server =
onto my computer. I already had winxp on c:\ and a separate partition =
for Red Hat Linux 8.0 (using the grub boot loader).=20
I booted from the 2k cdrom, formatted and installed to c:\. In the past =
when I have installed windows, I have had to reinstall LILO or Grub to =
get back into linux--the Windows boot loader just took over.=20
This time, however, when I installed 2k, on the first reboot during =
setup the grub loader prompted me to choose Linux or DOS. I chose DOS, =
and 2k's setup continued. During each reboot during setup, I had to =
choose DOS and setup continued. When it was done, I was able to boot to =
2k or linux using grub.=20
I don't have any antivirus software enabled in the BIOS, and on this =
same motherboard the last time I installed windows using the exact same =
steps I had to redo GRUB.=20
My question is, why didn't windows kill linux? Is this a new feature of =
the latest version of grub?=20
Thanks,=20
Josh=20
PS I have done the install twice, and it happened both times--grub =
lived.=20
