If you do go that route, I don't beleive you can put Darwin on it.

Regardless, Linux on PPCs, including all of the brand new Apple
hardware, works, is still very active and so on.  Personally I would
recommend Debian over YellowDog, but from what I understand the Teron
boards are nice.
