The more I look at this problem, the more I think
that it cannot be solved remotely.

You see, I'm trying to troubleshoot this machine over
my LAN, and in a world without HAL that may not
be possible.

This new machine of mine runs a command I've never
seen before:

 rose ~ # ck-list-sessions
Session3:
        unix-user = '1000'
        realname = '(null)'
        seat = 'Seat1'
        session-type = ''
        active = TRUE
        x11-display = ''
        x11-display-device = ''
        display-device = '/dev/tty1'
        remote-host-name = ''
        is-local = TRUE
        on-since = '2013-03-25T05:40:28.222196Z'
        login-session-id = '3'
        idle-since-hint = '2013-03-25T05:40:59.462669Z'
Session1:
        unix-user = '1000'
        realname = '(null)'
        seat = 'Seat2'
        session-type = ''
        active = FALSE
        x11-display = ''
        x11-display-device = ''
        display-device = '/dev/pts/0'
        remote-host-name = 'nec0.fgi.com'
        is-local = FALSE
        on-since = '2013-03-25T01:46:00.467187Z'
        login-session-id = '1'
        idle-since-hint = '2013-03-25T01:50:08.478465Z'
Session2:
        unix-user = '1000'
        realname = '(null)'
        seat = 'Seat3'
        session-type = ''
        active = FALSE
        x11-display = ''
        x11-display-device = ''
        display-device = '/dev/pts/1'
        remote-host-name = 'mmom.fgi.com'
        is-local = FALSE
        on-since = '2013-03-25T02:56:25.374772Z'
        login-session-id = '2'
        idle-since-hint = '2013-03-25T05:33:56.466456Z'

I'm working on this box from Session2

'is-local = TRUE' and
apparently
x11-display-device = '/dev/tty7'

must be present in the session before hotplugging will work
has anyone else seen this command?

Erich
