[Tfug] Startup Tucson Hackathon

I don't find Java to be a very appealing language either.  However at this point there does not seem to be many alternatives for Andriod programming.  Unless you want to spend $2k plus on object Pascal - Delphi.  I hear Delphi will be selling a compiler that will compile for Windows, MAC, and  Andriod.

If I wanted to develop for a smart device, I would not let Java hold me back.  This very well might be the future.

I would recommend against Android development. The goal hacking is... that, eventually, you want it to work. :)

Having tried my hand at Java development in the past, I can attest to "Write Once, Run Anywhere" is a true statement. I wanted to run away from Java as fast as possible when I was finished.

Cheers,
Bowie

Hey all,

I'm currently organizing a hackathon:

http://startuptucson.com/hackathon

We're currently shooting for a theme of mobile. Port something to
Android. Make an html5 game. Get linux on the iPhone. Come and hack with
the Tucson community!

Thanks,
Chris
