They must be doing something right - OS X has a higher penetration of
IPv6 than other platforms:

I'll defer to Will's response here

In all seriousness, network infrastructure problems are so common that
the kludges to get around them cause other kludges to arise.  Cisco
switches with spanning tree protocol turned on sometimes causes Macs
not to be able to netboot, all because of a protocol violating problem
with older versions of Windows that Cisco has ingrained into their
software.

I don't envy network engineers...
