Honestly... bare bones Firefox is a bit of a let down.  I still prefer it over
IE any day, but there are definite advantages to Opera.

*But*, I find Firefox's greatest strength to be it's plugins.  There are so
many and they turn an average browser into a great browser.  I too dislike the
default look of Firefox, but there are countless themes to pick from (my
personal favorite for Firefox 2.x is Modern Pinball).

For usability, the plugins I must have:
  Adblock Plus
  Google Browser Sync
  Download statusbar
  BugMeNot

Less critical, but still handy are:
  Tabbrowser preferences
  Colorful tabs
  Fission
  Webdeveloper

And that's just my small list.  I'm sure other TFUGgers have their own
preferred plugins.  These are definitely what makes Firefox stand out.
