Ah!  <frown>  I've never had to restore anything other
than "my data" to a windows machine so didn't realize
this was an issue.  :<

Yes.  I can always build a copy of the registry prior to
doing the backup.  But, I wonder if this is *all* the
problem...

Note that restoring the "System state" causes a message
telling you that you need to reboot because some system
files have been "replaced" (restored).  So, one is led
to *tink* it is Doing The Right Thing...  :<

Note it could also just be a pointer to a file or
directory that was stored in the registry is now
"missing"
