After some searching, it seems that the two second gap is sometimes encoded into the mp3 and sometimes the player injects in even if it is not encoded into it. It seems that ripping the entire disc/side as one file is the only good workaround to this. That was just a cursory investigation into the matter though ~ -- flooose
