The reason I haven't bought a Mac:

When my T41 refused to survive an emotional outburst with a 22 oz. framing
hammer, I priced out Apple, Dell, IBM (Lenovo), Gateway, Toshiba, Sony, and
probably more. I liked the Apples but they were so expensive. I had a list of
features I wanted, and I could get them in $2700 Apples, $1800 Dells, $2500
Sonys and Toshibas... I didn't really want to buy a Chinese product, but I got
a line on a special from IBM (Lenovo). The computer I wanted could be had
$1400.

In the end, there were two choices really: Dell and IBM.

The Dell are still pretty groovy looking, but to be honest, I couldn't give a
flying leap how it looks, only that it works. And the T61p is so much better
built than any of the others, I expected it to be at least as durable as the
T41 it replaces.

I broke the handle of the framing hammer in the last 'episode', so it
no longer
threatens a laptop that doesn't work right.
