OK,
     I just did a search with Gentoo emerge. Varicad is not open source.

    There is kicad, http://www.lis.inpg.fr/realise_au_lis/kicad/, and
offerings
under Qt such as:
                     qcad               http://www.ribbonsoft.com/qcad.html
                     qcad-parts      
http://www.ribbonsoft.com/qcad_library.html
