I have an A8N-E, and to tell you the truth, I didn't even think to look for linux drivers. They are there on the CD though. I've had the MB about 9 months, give or take a month.

Subject: [Tfug] Linux+ASUS?

Does anyone have an ASUS motherboard? If so, did it come with Linux drivers?I recently (3-4 months ago) got a new SLI motherboard (The P5N32-SLI PremiumWiFi-AP edition), and it had Linux drivers for everything (RAID, SLI, audio, chipset, WiFi, etc.). ASUS must have done this recently, because about ayear ago I got the ASUS P5WD2-E Premium mobo so I could play around withcrossfire. That CD didn't have anything except for 32 and 64 bit XPdrivers. Perhaps open source is really making some headway out there. Infact, I recall a Maximum PC (or some gaming PC magazine) telling its readersto NOT go get Vista, and instead had instructions for a basic install ofUbuntu (because it was the best Linux port out there for noobs). Don't getme wrong; I respect commisar Gates for starting a business that eventuallystarted taking over the world, but it will take more than a flashy interfaceand how many millions of extra lines of code (I heard numbers from 50-200million) ON TOP Of XP to impress
me. XP still has bugs in it. But Idigress. it's just interesting that ASUS would ship thier motherboards withlinux drivers...-- Windows Vista Ultimate beta (build 5600)Ubuntu 6.10 (dual boot)ASUS P5N32-SLI PremiumIntel Core 2 Duo 6600dual eVGA 7900 GT OCs (full x16 SLI)1 gig DDR2 PC2-6400 (OCd to 866MHz)250 gig RAID 1 (mirroring)custom Liquid cooling :)four 17" CRTs (uber widescreen)7.1 surround sound (296 watts)one happy gamer_______________________________________________Tucson Free Unix Group - tfug at tfug.orgSubscription Options:http://www.tfug.org/mailman/listinfo/tfug_tfug.org
