What we used to tell folks at StarNet (yes, StarNet) was that Linux was 
an advanced operating system and that if you configure it and install 
it, it'll work.  We had a few techs who were Linux-savvy and would help 
as much as possible.  In practice, I think most like-minded smaller 
ISPs follow this lead and will offer as much support as possible to 
Linux users.  I wouldn't expect much from a large ISP like Qwest.  The 
variety of possible *NIX installs makes it difficult to standardize 
support.
