Not sure exactly what you mean by "intermediate," since the term's
relative.  But I know of a number of people who use the "Linux from
Scratch" guide as a general reference.  I've recommended Prentice
Hall's Linux System Administration here before.  Debian maintains a
list of recommended documents (both Debian-specific and
non-Debian-specific) at http://www.us.debian.orig/doc/.

And, finally, there's always the Linux Documentation Project.  While
it's not as vibrant as it once was, it can still be pretty useful.
