I tried setting up Thunderbird on a Win XP PC for my mother-in-law and
finally called the Qwest support folk. They reported that they only
support HTTP connections for email with Outlook/Outlook Express as their
preferred client. I use Thunderbird (on SuSE Linux and on my wife's
Windows 2000 IBM Thinkpad) with no problems for POP3 connections. I
didn't investigate any further, but I'm sure there are other email apps
out there that can do HTTP connections to MSN. Sylpheed?
