One of the last pieces of the old-school altruistic Linux community is 
apparently gone.

I didn't know him all that well, but Rob and I kept in touch over the 
years. Even helped him out a bit when things were tight. Anyway, seems 
Rob was in a hit-and-run on the 11th while riding his bicycle. Alot of 
you guys probably have never heard of him, but Rob Levin was probably 
one of the most sorely underappreciated behind-the-scenes guys in the 
Linux community. Anyone who has anything even remotely serious to do w/ 
regard to OSS development meets on Freenode, and Freenode would have 
been anarchy without Rob. He never made a dime off of running it, and 
didn't want to.

Saddest part is, practically no one knew him, and even fewer people cared.
