I have a Toshiba laptop. When it needed service, Toshiba web site sent me
to the Radio Shack Service Center repair place here in town. They seemed to
be doing service for a number of manufacturers. They weren't like a typical

Go to Dell's website and enter your service tag number. It will tell you
what your warranty status is. In addition, it should tell you what your
repair options are.

If you have Next Business Day or At Home repair service as Adrian's scenario
suggests, you call Dell's tech support and tell them about the problem. Best
case, they perform troubleshooting to narrow down the problem to a hardware
fix. Then they issue a ticket for a local tech to visit your location and
replace the bad part.

If you have depot level service, they send you a box and you send the
computer on its way. It will be a while then...
