Bob,

	I've always had stellar luck with Soekris hardware
(http://www.soekris.com/). It will run nearly any free *nix including
several choices specifically built for Soekris (pfSense or m0n0wall).
pfSense and m0n0wall have intuitive web interfaces that will let you
adjust nearly anything. If you prefer a more ``organic'' experience I
personally have run a flashdist install of OpenBSD and used isakmp +
hardware crypto to connect to a Juniper/Netscreen 25 with pf firewall.
	The Soekris Hardware w/ a real OS treats me better than the much
pricier netscreen (with which I fight all the time).
