[Tfug] Persistent Linux and X Crashes. How to track down?

Yes,
     I noticed that from his original post too.  By "crash" you may mean
xorg
is in a tight loop trying to access a video card. I'm wondering if you
went to a vertual console and ran a top command to see if X is gobbling
up large chunks of the processor resouces.
