  Alright, I skipped over this before, but now I have to ask: Eww, why?
Why as a mouse? Why not just use the default joystick interface you should
get as soon as you plug it in?

  If for some sick reason you still want to use it as a mouse look up the
joystick support in X. I'm not sure if it's been maintained at all though.
