[Tfug] linux distro including staroffice 7? or how to
read wordperfect docs on linux? or what's up with sun's java desktop

I think wordperfect may be the one difference in terms of readable files
between openoffice and staroffice. See for example this eweek review:
http://www.eweek.com/print_article/0,3048,a=108604,00.asp
Staroffice also has in its dropdown for importable file types elements
for about 6 different wordperfect formats (win wp 6/7,dos wp 5, etc),
whereas my openoffice at home (1.1.4 (I think) on fedora core 2) only
has one entry for "wordperfect document" that's only there now that i
installed libwpd, I think.
KWord definitely does import wordperfect docs, as does staroffice 7 eval
edition. Even though i installed libwpd, i have yet to get openoffice
to do so. I understand that the libwpd release tentatively scheduled
for next week will be friendlier toward fc2, so maybe i'll have better
luck then. But kword seems to be good enough (though definitely not
perfect) that i won't be buying so 7.
Thanks for all the help!
