[Tfug] what's up with sun's java desktop, not much!

Following is only my personal opinion...
Quite frankly it has been my experience that sun's
java desktop is an awful distro. If you really want
suse get suse. JDS appears to have the same bugs as
the suse 8-something it was based off of, and from
what I hear the newer version has the same bugs. It
just looks as if not much care was taken in it, as
there are plently of places where the suse logo still
shows or it is refered to as suse linux. To top it off
it comes with a somewhat crippled gnome and a bunch of
lously java multimedia applications. I must admit I
cannot stand yast, but this is not the fault of JDS.
The only reviews I have seen, that gave it a good
recomendation, were done by non-linux, somewhat
non-geeky sources - thus should be taken with a grain
of salt to begin with (as they are probably not too
familiar with many distros anyhow). It really boggles
my mind how sun has such a cult following. Oh well,
otherwise star office appears to be a decent product,
personally I am just as happy with openoffice, but I
would not call JDS worth the purchase, even for star
office.
Here ends my rant, but I just wanted to let you know
before you made a possibly grave mistake!
Christain
