  Actually, I just had a breakthrough with what sounds like the same problem
with Eudora being stupid with SSL, I'm using Dovecot-IMAP though.  I think
it turned out to be an issue with the ordering of certificates, I guess I
had the RootCA, Intermediate CA, server certs catted in the wrong order. 
Thunderbird didn't care, but Eudora threw a tantrum.  It was that, or the
upgrade of dovecot, but it's happy now.

  Really? You don't say... I moved my boss to IMAP email this week, but the
batch conversion of his huge pile of Eudora folders I did misplaced lots of
messages, so if Thunderbird can import the folder structure reliably AND let
me copy whole folder trees up to the server easilly I'd make my life easier.
