Well, I have resolved the problem, though not in the way I had hoped.  Like
you I just had to give up on Eudora.  Also, like you, this isn't the first
time I've had "issues" with Eudora and TLS/SSL.

Google was really no help at all trying to figure out what "Bad Record MAC"
meant.  I found a number of people experiencing the same error, but not a
single resolution nor even a basic explanation.  The SSL docs had one 10 word
sentence devoted to this error message which was useless.

So... goodbye Eudora!  I have this person using Mozilla Thunderbird now which,
I must say, seems like a much better program than Eudora.  Plus it imported
the old Eudora data just fine.
