[Tfug] Is HUP necessary after having logroate rotate mail.log?

Hmmm... I don;t know exactly. Doesn't seem to be a problem at all on my 
systems. My logrotate config rotates messages, secure, maillog, spooler, 
boot.log, and cron all at the same time. It only does a HUP on the syslog 
process.
