Shrug, it is my personal experience that NetBSD is anything but rock solid
on everything. I could not for the life of me get it to run reliably on an
Alpha. Wound up switching the machine to Debian and it's been wonderful
ever since.
And as far as Darwin, well, the primary reason for our wanting an X-window
based system is lightweightness. I don't know how much it differs from the
commercial OSX, but I don't want that much eye candy. I also want to use
OpenOffice and GAIM on these machines, and don't know how well their X
server is integrated into things these days (I've not played with it for a
few months - heard there's been an update since then).
