It would make sense to try to avoid already-established dates set by other
related computer organizations. This may prove to be difficult, but it
should be a consideration. Four spoken-for dates I know of are:
Tucson Computer Society (TCS) general meeting - 3rd Tuesday 7PM
TCS Linux SIG meeting - 4th Sunday 2-4PM
Tucson MAC User Group - 3rd Wednesday 6PM
Tucson Java User Group - 2nd Tuesday 6:30PM
I'm sure there are others, this is just a starter list. I've also heard
complaints in the past about Sunday meetings (not just on TFUG).
RE the question of a separate UALUG and TFUG, I would suggest a single LUG
with a serious attempt made to have the meetings near the campus. I know
parking is an explitive-deleted problem near the U, but having it far from
the U will serious cut down on UA student participation. The resources
available to support these is limited (peoples time, mostly), so spreading
it over two organizations might be a mistake. We've already got some
spread between TFUG and the TCS Linux SIG, although they may serve
different constituencies.
