This is a post to a Foxro list I belong to:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------=
-----
Brian Livingson's column in the March 24, 2003 Infoworld, page 22, =
reports that the new Microsoft Windows update routine has now been coded =
to be what I would call "Spyware." Only part of this is operational =
now, but subroutines installed will be available to spy the software =
activities by going to the registry, after its spying it then reports =
back to Microsoft.
For those using the newer versions of FoxPro, I have no idea what the =
legal situation will be if >you are the one< to specify a current =
Microsoft operating system.
In the article, a Microsoft spokesperson says this is legal because: =
"Windows Update is a completely voluntary process,"=20
The first of this article dated March 14th is under:
http://www.infoworld.com/columnists/brian.html?column=3Dwindow
A second version of the same article is:
http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/03/14/11winman_1.html
The current print article seems not to be on-line yet. Just things to =
think about. .Ted.
