[Tfug] XFree86 4.3 questions

I've read a little about the new RandR extention, but I'm not sure
how to use it or even if it does what I want it too. I assume it will
let me adjust resolutions on the fly without that annoying scrolling
effect (where the size of your desktop is equal to the largest
resolution available and your mouse lets you scroll around the desktop
to places not visible). I just can't find any way to do that. Is this
possible or am I just misunderstanding things.

BTW, while I'm asking about X4.3 and whatnot, anyone know why the
fonts in Mandrake 9.1 final (and the RCs for that matter) are still
kinda messed up. Text will ocasionally overlap vertically and
horizontally. Highlighting the text fixes it though. I haven't had this
problem with redhat 8.0. I've played with the subpixel hinting option in
KDE 3.1's menus with some success, but it's still not perfect. All I can
figure is it's some feature Redhat enabled during the compile that
Mandrake didn't.

    Thanks again folks :).
