I'm glad that enough people are interested in particpating
in a mailing list that it will be viable.
As for face-to-face meetings--personally, I like being
able to discuss things face-to-face in addition to email.
I think that to do face-to-face meetings, each of us will have
to give more complete information about what times would work
for us. Saying that one particular day of the week (or of the
month) is great for you probably isn't enough, because then if
some people's one great day of the week or month is different,
it's not obvious how to pick a day that is OK or at least tolerable
for (almost) everyone.
I am tempted to hack up a little cgi app that would let
each person enter for each day of the month whether it is
great, OK, slightly bad, bad, or intolerable for him/her,
and at what times, so the computer could tell us when the
most people can agree on to meet. :-)
(Actually, such a little app might be broadly useful for a lot of
miscellaneous clubs. Maybe it's well worth doing. It would
require a decent UI to keep it from being too hard or time-consuming
to use and keep it really easy for people to check the correctness
of their data. I have some ideas for this worked out, but
this email is too small to readily contain them. :-) )
Anyway, in case it helps, my current timing preferences:
Great:
7pm-10pm M-Th *except* as noted below.
2pm-6pm Sun
Good:
6pm-7pm M-Th *except* as noted below.
Slightly bad (but I could probably show up):
5pm-6pm M-Th *except* as noted below
4th Tues evening
12n-6pm Sat
2pm-6pm Sun
Bad:
1st Tues evening
3rd Tues evening
anything not otherwise listed
