[Tfug] external usb cd

Howdy, Is there any way to see what devices are
currently attached to my computer? I have a machine
with an external usb cdrom drive, I just installed
debian, and I was wondering how to go about mounting
it. I tried less -f on /dev/usb/*BLAHBLAH* and it did
not seem to think there was anything there. Also what
are usb mice called for XF86config? /dev/input/usb0?
because that did not work for me either. Thanks
