  Yup. iMacs are "NewWorld", so the firmware sucks less (which makes it MUCH
easier to boot)

  I) download linux, yaboot, and yaboot.conf from the Debian mirrors into
the root of your (assumed) existing MacOS partition)

  II) boot into OF by holding down something-Option-O-F, where something is
either Control or Command, I can never remember which. 
  III) boot hd:,yaboot
  IV) Run through the installer.

  That's pretty much it. penguinppc.org, or imaclinux.org should have links
to a more detailed howto (like http://people.debian.org/~branden/ibook.html)

  For a first gen (233Mhz), 300 is probably fair. 

  Oh, and the HOWTO is correcting me allready. You need root.bin too, and it
is Command-Option-O-F
