On the subject of partitioning a disk to accomodate multiple
operating systems, (just the ones that run on xxx86 chips): I've
resisted it from the start, and adapted to network technology
instead.
PC's are cheap, but the time it takes to futz with them is
expensive. With networks you can take advantage of the client-
host technology of X-windows. I have multiple architectures and
OS's, but what they all have in common is X-windows and a LAN with
TCP/IP.
Sure, disks are partioned, but each computer has to deal
with only one operating system.
