Sean,

I understand backports now. I followed the instructions you gave me, I
spent this week trying to compile openscad, and I have succeeded. I have
installed it. Here's my .deb package for it:
thepool.blue/openscad_2015.03-1+dfsg-3~bpo80+1_amd64.deb
