[Tfug] Is TFUG dead?

Hi Harry,

I am curious, by "IBM" what type of system is it. I worked with IBM for over
30 years. :)

Hi,

I probably have been slacking off a bit too, I really should make more of a
mention of TFUG and the power of email lists in my Linux classes at Pima.

That being said, I think the growing up is hitting everyone, I work full
time (IBM), teach 2-3 classes, and have a wife and two kids...

Great points. I have been thinking along the same lines of "failure of old
to inspire young". At our LUG - Maricopa Pinal, we are working to bridge
that gap.

We have a community outreach program with goals to donate Linux Computers to
local recipients. The computers we donate are donated to us. We haven't even
begun and in just mentioning our goals, we have a nice Dell with xubuntu and
a Laptop with Mint 17.

I don't know that we need to be consistent with one distro and it will
depend on the receivers' preferences.

The first place we reached out to was Boys and Girls Club. I am sure we will
have no shortage of people wanting to be recipients.

For 2015, we plan to offer workshops at our local shared workspace -
Gangplank and possibly the Hive - at the library for west side community
members.

I guess we will see what this year brings, but I really would love to see
more young people attend, participate and work with us, living, learning and
enjoying Linux.

There has definitely been a decline in posts for many years now. Many of us
have grown up (I'm excluded from that) and don't have much time to spend in
front of a computer anymore unless we are getting paid for it.

And yes, everything is bigger in Texas. Gigitty.

to compare the frequency of posts there with here.
Nonetheless I sense that there is a decline in posts here. I
sense that Linux
users are getting older, and that there is a failure of the old to
inspire the
young to come on board. By the way, Betty White was born in 1922. I'm
old, but not that old. :)
