I was thinking of gutting a 1U server and using the chassis
(i.e., the bottom half thereof) for the drawer.  The real
"issue" is coming up with a support for the monitor.  Mangling
metal is always a chore (the idea of making something out of
*wood* just won't cut it!  :> )

Yup.  Taken to extreme, you should never buy *anything* -- since
it will always be cheaper tomorrow!  :-/

I sent some pix in a PM.  Looks like you should be able to attach
one end to a rack frame and the other end to "someplace convenient"
on the back of the drawer -- depending on how deep the drawer and
rack are...
