fdisk is displaying the partition type, not the file-system format.
For consistency, you can either change the partition type, or reformat
it.  But I don't think it matters if you're mounting the drive on a
Linux system.

At one point, I ran into a similar situation using a USB flash drive
with a Linux partition, but a FAT32 format.  My car stereo did not
like that: had to change to partition type.
