I'm a fan of the Microsoft Bluetrack models - they seem to work really
well on a variety of surfaces. Inexpensive, and has basic
functionality.

As for rechargeable, just get a pack of Sanyo eneloops and a charger.
I've switched nearly all my disposable battery using devices to these
and they're great - the eneloops keep the charge for a long time in
low drain devices like TV remotes, etc.
