[Tfug] Weird Wifi Woes

I have a D-Link N Wireless router. When I bought it for an
inexpensive price (not the best sequence) I then wondered why they had
it on special so I googled it and a few people had theirs die in a
month or six months. So I thought I would see if there were any hot
components and took the lid off (carefully, easy to break the little
plastic pieces), and there was a heat sinked part that runs quite warm
with the lid off (I couldn't touch it without almost getting burned),
so I suppose it runs very hot with the plastic lid on. That might be
the slow degradation-type problem. I added more air flow and it has
been running fine, no glitches, slow speeds, or hot parts for more
than a year now. That isn't conclusive, just anecdotal evidence, but
it is good enough for me.
