My file system for Ubuntu 9.10, which I just backed up a few days
ago, is 10.5GB including / and /home. It was backed up to 2.3 GB.

With remastersys I get a live DVD which runs on several machines. It
loads and works on any machine that runs live CD. If my machine dies
completely, I can replicate it on any machine I can run the live DVD
on.
It works for doing basic installs on several machines as I can do all
of the updates and customization and then move it almost any other
box. It isn't bothered by things like different network or video
cards.
I successfully tested it on Linux Mint and GOS too.
