My advice to just about anyone remotely involved in software dev:
Dont Buy the Startup Image!

look at the basics when assessing an employment opportunity:

   Management structure and principles
   Salary
   Benefits
   Position

  things to look out for:

'You have to wear many hats here' translation: This job will be a
big fat hole in your resume.

'You can wear flip flops to work!' translation: We dont take
ourselves or you seriously.

'Job Titles?' translation: We dont really have a business plan or structure.

We are far past the late 90s... don't forget the uberstartup,
Netscape, *never turned a profit*. People seem to forget how the
'startup' myth really ended. Best of luck, jmz
