/sys is part of sysfs.  If you look at the output from 'mount' you should see
that this isn't part of your root partition.  It's all virtual, just like
/proc.  As to what it is... given its size, probably the memory mapping of
your video card?  Hard to say.

Read up on sysfs and you should find all you need.
