[Tfug] A symlinks question, I think?

Here's my situation...note that this question is NOT Zoneminder
specific, I don't think.

I have this "Zoneminder" thing almost completely sorted out. Only one
problem left: the damnthing refuses to store it's data out on the disk
I need it to go into, a 500gig ReiserFS drive that will be dedicated
to the data.

Base OS is Xubuntu Intrepid 8.10, with Zoneminder 1.24 as built by
Bluecherry off their LiveCD, but now installed to hard disk.

Right now ZM's "path" statement (in their "options" menus) points to:

events

Literally, with no slashes fore or aft. Some digging showed that this
is somehow linked to /var/www/events, where data is being stored
successfully on the 250gig Ext3 boot partition.

If I re-point "path" to /media/disk/events (to store out on the
ReiserFS partition) it won't write. Period. Permissions aren't the
issue.

People on the Zoneminder forums say a symlink to re-point this is the
way to go, but have given me malformed symlink syntax until I'm ready
to pull my hair out.

Can anybody give me functional symlink syntax to take data now going
to /var/www/events and re-point it to /media/disk/events - noting that
both are directories, not files?

Other stuff: the ReiserFS partition is mounting correctly via fstab
and I've triple-checked permissions out there - everybody can write to
it. Security isn't an issue as this system is dedicated to camera
monitoring.

Jim
