Absolutely!

The 'L' designation means that the firmware is Linux-powered. In fact, I
have one of these myself and have set them up for numerous other people.
Depending on the firmware you use, they're rock-solid and very fast. I'm
currently using Tomato Firmware on all of my 54GLs, but I've used DD-WRT in
the past.
