I think most programmers make money working for someone else.  If that someone is giving away their goods then where does that money come from.

A good model to look at is RHEL vs CentOS.

Coder make money by producing something the markets wants.  But be careful, someone will come along and  market it and make some real money.

Which, when it comes down to it, is pretty much nothing.   What you
get when you buy software licensing is the emperor's new
 clothes.

That said, I for one want to see every license enforced in the most
draconian method possible.  It would be the single best way to get
people to adopt truly free and open source software.
