Has anyone tried to use the Netlib math archives at

www.netlib.org

This is managed by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville under 
contract with Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

My experience is that the FORTRAN programs compile after a few 
corrections.  The C programs never compile, as the source code is not 
compatible with recent C libraries.  The C programs seem to have been 
written in the mid 1980s.

PS:  I was told that FORTRAN would go away by 1990.
