Tucson media never does anything to rock the boat.
"Let's have ____________ on as a special guest tonight
and, instead of asking tough questions, we'll give
him/her a free 15 minute commercial in which he/she
can say whatever they want (PR) and we'll thank
him/her afterwards..."

>From what I have seen of UofA auctions, there are
often "finds", sometimes "deals" and, quite routinely,
people paying too much for "junque". I've attended,
on and off, for several years (e.g., my bidder number
fits in 8 bits! :> ) and have seen quite a lot of
crap shoveled into the waiting arms or their patrons.
(who the hell wants to buy a gross of UA T-shirts?)

My one "find" was a "Xerox/Kurzweil Personal Reader"
(complete with scanner and manual -- though sold in
two different lots as the staff no doubt had no idea
that they were related to each other). And, I suspect
I was the only person in attendance who had a clue as
to what it was, how it worked, etc. (I had worked
for the company during the development of its
predecessor). I think I paid $15 for the two lots.

Actually, I had *two* "finds" -- the second was
industrial shelving units 28 feet wide, 18 inches
deep and 7 feet tall -- for $35 (total). My garage
is now the envy of all the neighborhood! :>

Seeing the folks who gobble up their old Wintel boxes
leaves me fearful for anyone who buys computers from
"used computer stores" in this town :<
