Hello -

Sorry about "off topic" but I usually am... besides this is math and set
theory.....

I've lived on the west side of town for about 12 years now. For our state
representative for our district, I have NEVER even seen a republican on this
one ticket. Why? Because in that district there aren't enough republicans
to win, so why waste the time and money to run. Why?

Consider an area with 3 districts. Suppose there are 100,000 voters in each
district. Assume the registered / historical votes are as follows

Voters----
district dems reps
1 49,000 51,000
2 49,000 51,000
3 99,999 1
-----------------------------
total 197,999 102,001
ratio-about 2 : 1

Representatives
results 1 : 2

Remember the stink in Texas about redistricting?

joe
