If we had the exact model number of your BackUPS 1000 (there is no "XS 1000" 
listed at APC (http://www.apcc.com/search/search_vawatts.cfm) AND the exact 
model number of Bexley Hall's 650 (there's a bunch of different ones), we could 
check the APC pages for the models and see if the battery cartridges were 
compatible.

For example, the page for the "APC BACK-UPS ES 8 Outlet 650VA 120V" shows 
    "Replacement battery cartridge   RBC17"
while the page for the "Back-UPS RS 1000VA" shows 
    "Replacement battery cartridge   RBC32"

You have to select the UPSes from here:

there is no direct link to the product specs for a given UPS.
