Yes, I wasn't trying to be literal.  Rather, to
verbosely explain what you would think when
encountering that "message" (suitably decorated
to ensure it stands out easily!) while reviewing
the logs at a later date.

E.g., I have my syslog.conf(5) configured to use
the MARK facility for just that purpose (though
it generates a lot of "noise").

N.B.  The *BSD's use newsyslog.conf(5) to do what
I imagine your logrotate tries to do (though I
don't believe it suffers from an "annually" bug  :> )
