[Tfug] Desktop machine has become unusable in Linux

Normally, yes... but due to this init script breakage, the network interface
is not being brought up so there's no net access to the machine of any kind.
And that same init script breakage is also rendering my KB nonfunctional.  It
seems that several important modules are not be loaded.  input and skge in my
case.

So, without Knoppix working the only thing I can do is borrow a PS/2
keyboard.
